Mundine’s Finds Replacement

ImageLess than two weeks away from fight night, Anthony Mundine’s opponent Carson Jones has withdrawn from their bout, scheduled for January 29 at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

Jones has been struck with influenza, which forced the American to pull the plug on the upcoming Light Middleweight showdown.

Rumors circled that American based Ghanaian, Joshua Clottey would be Mundine’s replacement opponent, but the notice was too short to secure the former IBF Welterweight champion.

Mundine was then scheduled for face American Billy Lyell, but this also fell through due to the short notice.

Mundine’s new opponent will be New Zealander, Gunnar Jackson (18-4-3, 6Kos). Jackson, the New Zealand Middleweight champion is coming off a 2nd round TKO victory in which he claimEd the WBO Oriental title.
